ESTHETIC DENTISTRY

ESTHETIC DENTISTRY

This pertains to the study of beauty and the sense of beautiful.  The color, alignment, spacing as well as regularity of the teeth are the characteristics that give the overall  appearance of the mouth. Any of these can be repaired to give a stunning look to your smile.

We offer a wide variety of esthetic options. Some of these options are whitening, smile design, re-contouring  the shape of the teeth, veneers, bonding, and all ceramic/porcelain crowns.

WHITENING - INCLUDING Zoom!

This is the procedure of making teeth whiter. Our office uses several methods: Zoom!, passive tray whitening, and professional strength whitening strips.

Zoom! is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure.  In most cases one session it all that is required to produce amazing results. Trays with gel are recommended afterward for maximum whitening and maintenance.

The tray method involves wearing custom vinyl trays during the day or overnight. The entire process takes 3-4 sessions. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however the higher the strength the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining.

Whether you use Zoom or the tray method, both are safe, effective and will produce dramatically whiter teeth.

VENEERS

Veneers are usually placed on the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves one appointment. The veneers are made using a composite resin. This method is usually referred to as bonding. The indirect technique usually involves two appointments. The veneers are usually made using porcelain or a pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

INVISALIGN

Invisalign straightens your teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-molded aligners. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth, until you have a more beautiful smile. Unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and cleaning your teeth.

SMILE DESIGN Your eyes are the windows to your soul and your smile tells the story.

Our smile design begins with a smile analysis that is both emotional and objective.

The Emotional Evaluation is based on an individual's perception of their smile. The questions below are designed to reveal the influence a person's smile has on their quality of life.
  • Do you love the appearance of your teeth and smile?
  • Do you ever turn your face when smiling or hold your hand in front of your mouth when speaking to others?
  • Have you ever found yourself admiring another persons smile?
  • Have you ever figured out a way to use your lips to cover any aspect of your smile?
  • Are you embarrassed to visit a dentist due to the condition of your teeth or the length of time since your last visit?
  • How does your smile make you feel? Confident?
  • When taking pictures, do you tend to smile with your lips closed instead of flashing a big smile?
  • Have you ever held back a laugh because you felt uncomfortable about your smile?
  • How would a beautiful new smile make you feel?
  • What would you like to change about your smile?

The Objective Evaluation compares a person's normal smile to their big happy smile. This comparison is best performed in front of a mirror. You may not feel comfortable using your big smile, if you are not happy with your teeth. However, improving your smile will make your big smile appear more spontaneously. The questions below are designed to reveal what is holding your big smile back.

  • Are all of your teeth brilliant white or are they somewhat yellow, dark or stained?
  • Are there spaces between any of your teeth?
  • Are you missing any of your teeth?
  • Do you have teeth that are crooked, uneven, or out of line?
  • Do the biting edges of your upper teeth follow the curvature of your upper lip?
  • Do any of your teeth appear short and fat or small or long?
  • Do your teeth (as a group) slant one way or another?
  • Is the midline of your two front teeth centered with your face and nose?
  • Are the edges of your canine teeth long, sharp, or look out of line?
  • Do you grind your teeth or are any of the biting edges on your teeth chipped or worn down?
  • Do you have a "gummy" smile (showing to much gum tissue or having gums that are to thick?
  • Are your gums even and in line and symmetrical or irregularly shaped (higher on some teeth and lower on others?)
  • Have your  gums receded or do they appear red or puffy?
  • Do you have any gray, black or silver dental fillings in your teeth?
  • Do you have any old crowns that have dark edges at the top or that don't really look natural?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, we can design you a healthy beautiful smile that will transform your confidence and enhance your quality of life.
